Scratch Intro

I this Scratch intro video it shows all the different types of programs you can create such as videos, cartoons, games, mini shows, storylines and heaps more. All projects created have a special code of their own, which can be viewed or changed in the sample videos and games. It shows how to play and stop the video or game if you want to view something, the green flag in the top right corner is the play button and the red hexagon beside it is to stop the video or game. I learned that every character and object is called a sprite and that every sprite is controlled by their own code which tells it what to do. You can see how this works by double clicking a sprite, its code will show up and then you can change it around if you want or just watch how it works. To create your own program you start with a blank screen, you can add your own characters and backgrounds if you want. If you want them to move or do something you can glick on any of the choices in the box in the top left corner there is: motion, looks, sound, pen, conrol, sensing, numbers and variables. When you click on one of these 8 choices a list of different types of motions and more. It taught me how you can make them move or make noises....you drag whatever motion you choose over to the control box and you click on it repeatedly to make it move forward or something. If you are using a motion and noise, you can join them together so they can play together at the same time. You can move your character or forward or backwards, you can rotate and do heaps more. In this tutorial it has really helped me with how to use the tools and create or these different types of programs.
