Image Effects

In this clip it shows that you can play around with the picture you upload to your sceen, like you can put a whirl on the face of your pic and it mixes the face into a different position or makes the face all wavy. You can also change the colour of the picture or object, by going to the looks category and clicking on th set colour button you can change the colour of the picture.

I this tutorial video I learned that you can manipulate images with all sorts of special effects. It shows what some of the tools can be used for like the scissors symbol is what cuts or deletes images and objects of the screen. The paint sprite is what you can use to import pictures that you would like to use. Then there is the grow sprite and the shrink sprite which are the tools you use to shrink or stretch out the image or object.

Scratch Intro

I this Scratch intro video it shows all the different types of programs you can create such as videos, cartoons, games, mini shows, storylines and heaps more. All projects created have a special code of their own, which can be viewed or changed in the sample videos and games. It shows how to play and stop the video or game if you want to view something, the green flag in the top right corner is the play button and the red hexagon beside it is to stop the video or game. I learned that every character and object is called a sprite and that every sprite is controlled by their own code which tells it what to do. You can see how this works by double clicking a sprite, its code will show up and then you can change it around if you want or just watch how it works. To create your own program you start with a blank screen, you can add your own characters and backgrounds if you want. If you want them to move or do something you can glick on any of the choices in the box in the top left corner there is: motion, looks, sound, pen, conrol, sensing, numbers and variables. When you click on one of these 8 choices a list of different types of motions and more. It taught me how you can make them move or make noises....you drag whatever motion you choose over to the control box and you click on it repeatedly to make it move forward or something. If you are using a motion and noise, you can join them together so they can play together at the same time. You can move your character or forward or backwards, you can rotate and do heaps more. In this tutorial it has really helped me with how to use the tools and create or these different types of programs.

Digital Art……….Real Art?

1. A discussion point. “Is digital art a valid form of art?”

A definition of art: Art is objects, Drawings, Etchings, Paintings, Sculptures, Stage Designs, Portraits , etc.

What are some of the advantages that digital paint and draw programs offer over the traditional methods (canvas and paint).

The advantages of Digital art is speed, creative control and it's more accurate.
You get things done a lot faster and you learn how to use all different types of tools. You can create anything you want using different types of techniques as such. Your also not wasting your time trying to find where the tools are because they are right on the side of the screen. That is also how you get it done quicker. But Digital art has more speed than painting, paint does have a lot of different tools, and sometimes it is hard to certain adjustments to pictures because some of the tools aren't as good but luckily it has a few different tools that can do similar things.

3. What skills must a digital artist possess to create great digital art?

First of all they need to know all the different tools and techniques in all the different softwares, which is something you would have to learn and study to get used to what they do and how they work.

Digital Media

1· First off let see if we can list how many forms of digital media surround us (you should be able to come up with at least 5).

Cellphones
Compact disc
Digital video
Digital television
e-book
I
nternet
Minidisc
Video game
World Wide Web
I
nteractive media

2· What number system is digital data based on? What two digits are used to code all digital data?

As opposed to analog data, digital data is in many cases easier to manipulate, and the end result can be reproduced indefinitely without any loss of quality.

What is a bit? What is a byte?

A bit, short for binary digit, is the smallest unit of measurement used for information storage in computers. A bit is represented by aaa 1 or aaa 0 with aaa value of true or false, sometimes expressed as on or off. Eight bits form aaa single byte of information, also known as an octet. Thus, the difference between a bit and aaa byte is size, or the amount of information stored.

What is “sampling rate”? Find an image that explains how sampling works (Wikipedia is a good resource here…you can place these images in your blog)

The sampling rate, sample rate, or sampling frequency defines the number of samples per second (or per other unit) taken from a continuous signal to make a discrete signal. For time-domain signals, it can be measured in hertz (Hz). The inverse of the sampling frequency is the sampling period or sampling interval, which is the time between samples.

How does Colour Depth (Color Depth) or bit depth effect the appearance of an image? Find some images to illustrate the effect.

Color depth or bit depth, is a computer graphics term describing the number of bits used to represent the color of a single pixel in a bitmapped image or video frame buffer. This concept is also known as bits per pixel (bpp), particularly when specified along with the number of bits used. Higher color depth gives a broader range of distinct colors.

Colour depth effects both still and video digital media. Sampling rate only effects video but not still media. Can you explain.

NO.
